The TCC International Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (TCC–CIMET) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is collaborating with Ecobuild Consult on sustainable development initiatives aimed at promoting green innovation and efficient infrastructure.
As part of its mandate to advance the commercialisation of research and technical expertise, TCC–CIMET is providing expert guidance on project implementation, sustainability planning, and income-generation strategies.
During a meeting with fellows from the Centre, Chief Consultant at Ecobuild Consult, Rev. Allan Okomeng, outlined key elements of the partnership.
“We’ve undertaken a similar project at the University of Ghana, but this time, we’ve introduced several modifications to improve the overall design and functionality of the building,” he said.
He added that the project will incorporate renewable energy systems to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
“We plan to integrate solar and advanced metering infrastructure to generate clean energy for the building. This will help promote safe environmental practices and sustainable energy use,” he explained.
Ecobuild Consult is a consultancy firm specialising in project management, cost engineering, and civil, building and highway engineering. The company provides end-to-end solutions ranging from feasibility studies and design to contract administration and project supervision.
Representing the Director-General of TCC–CIMET, Director for Business Development and Sustainability, Professor Alexander Marful, welcomed the Ecobuild team and reviewed the project drawings.
“The drawings are very accurate and well done,” he noted. “However, I suggest incorporating income-generating activities into the project. This will ensure the investment benefits the organisation directly and creates a sustainable ecosystem that enhances residents’ comfort and experience.”
Prof. Marful added that the meeting opens the door for broader collaborations between TCC–CIMET and Ecobuild Consult, including the Obuasi Magazine Project and scaling up the RENABUMA initiative.
The meeting, attended by Ms. Edith Asmah, Mr. Oteng Nyame, and Dr. Oliver Kornyo, underscored TCC–CIMET’s and KNUST’s shared commitment to driving innovation, strengthening partnerships, and advancing sustainable campus development.
